Giants has agree to re-sign $98.5million star man who left for rivals 2023 due to.
With their sights set on UNC quarterback Drake Maye, the New York Giants reportedly tried to move up to the third overall choice in this year’s draft. They were unsuccessful, though, as Maye was selected by the New England Patriots with the third overall pick. At No. 6, the Giants selected Malik Nabers, a superb playmaker, but they did not reveal who would start at quarterback.Despite the Giants’ efforts to select a successor in the April draft, Daniel Jones is anticipated to start at center for the team this season. Jones told the media he is focused on what he can control, appearing unperturbed by the team’s desire to choose a quarterback in the first round.
However, this season Jones is stepping into uncharted territory. His injury-plagued 2023 campaign was finally cut short by an ACL tear in Week 9. He didn’t play particularly well when he was on the field either, tossing just two touchdowns to six interceptions in six starts.
ESPN’s Jorden Reid made early first-round predictions in a recent 2025 mock draft, and he had the Giants selecting a quarterback in the first round with extreme aggression. In order to replace Daniel Jones, Reid had the G-Men trade up from pick No. 4 to the first overall draft decision with the Carolina Panthers, selecting Carson Beck, a quarterback from Georgia.
Reid cited the interest Big Blue has shown in this year’s quarterback class and emphasized the dearth of guaranteed money still available on The quarterbacks still available at No. 6 last week were chosen by the Giants, who apparently attempted to trade up for one of the top three passers, “showing some faith in Daniel Jones recapturing his 2022 form off his torn ACL this season,” Reid wrote. “But since Jones’ contract will no longer include guaranteed money, things could change by this time next year.”
Although it’s challenging to predict a blockbuster draft trade one year in advance, Reid pointed out that deals of this nature have happened before: “We’re not sure which team will truly select first overall in the upcoming draft, but the Giants should definitely give that team a call to try to move up in the rankings. In the common draft era (since 1967), the No. 1 pick has only been traded 13 times, but if things go this way, the Panthers might make it back-to-back years. It’s too early to plan out everything, but the Giants would need to bundle something in the range of a second-round pick and their first-round pick in 2026.
