Cardinals has agree to re-sign $98.5million star man who left for rivals 2023 due to.
MLB umpire C.B. Bucknor is under criticism for his work behind the plate for the second time in less than a week.
In Saturday’s game between the Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals, Bucknor officiated at home plate. In the top of the tenth inning, Chicago seized a 6-5 advantage. Then, in the bottom of the tenth inning, with two outs and the bases loaded and the rain pouring down, Bucknor called for the tarps. About three hours passed during the delay. That meant that the game was going to be strange no matter how it ended.
Pitcher John Brebbia of the White Sox was up 0-1 against St. Louis hitter Nolan Gorman at the time the game was postponed. When the match got back on, The Cardinals’ broadcasters on Bally Sports Midwest, Tom Ackerman and Jim Edmonds, were predictably less enthusiastic. The St. Louis broadcasters attacked Bucknor, who had earlier in the week been ridiculed by Hall of Fame pitcher Jim Palmer.
“You have to be joking with me,” He is going to call a pitch off the plate following all of that. Not even close, according to Edmonds. “You have to be joking with me,” Ackerman repeated. Bucknor’s past relationship with St. Louis manager Oliver Marmol does not help the situation. In 2022, Bucknor removed Marmol from a game. Marmol remembered the altercation after the game. “I asked him questions about my time in the league, and he asked me questions about his time in the league,” Marmol added.
Prior to a game in spring training the next year, Bucknor declined to shake hands with Marmol. The St. Louis manager shot back, calling him “zero class as a man” and stating that “I don’t think he’s very good at his job.”
