The Trent Brown Era is officially over in Foxboro, as the former franchise left tackle on Tuesday signed a one-year contract with the Bengals.

Brown, a member of New England’s last championship team that won Super Bowl LIII, will fill a hole in Cincy left by the free-agent departure of Jonah Williams to the Cardinals.

ESPN on Monday ranked Brown as the best remaining available player in free agency.

Brown’s tenure in Foxboro soured in 2023, as he reportedly sat out a late-season game despite being healthy. He later said Foxboro was “not a vacation” destination in free agency.

While Brown pursues greener pastures, the Patriots continue their search for a new left tackle who will likely protect a new starting quarterback.

The Patriots are moving on from Trent Brown, and the former franchise left tackle appears to be moving on to Cincinnati.

At one point the Pats were hopeful that Isaiah Wynn would blossom into their franchise left tackle. Instead, the veteran is now a staple of the Dolphins’ offensive line after agreeing to another one-year contract to stay in south Florida.

Wynn was New England’s first-round draft pick in 2018 and started 40 games over four years in Foxboro before leaving in free agency a year ago. With Trent Brown leaving this year in free agency, the Patriots are again looking for their franchise left tackle.
