Carlos Sainz has offered some fighting talk to Red Bull and believes that Ferrari can challenge them for regular race victories before the end of the season. The Spanish driver is looking to secure a seat with the reigning champions in 2025 as he navigates his final year driving for the Prancing Horse.

Sainz finished on the podium at the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday, chasing Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez home to follow up his first race win of the season with another solid points haul. The 29-year-old is making his voice heard in the battle for vacant seats with Red Bull and Mercedes next year.

After another strong outing, the Ferrari star believes the only way is up for his team. “We must not forget Red Bull brought an important update, and we have not,” Sainz said. “There will be circuits where we can compete.”

The Spaniard will also be aided by improved strategy calls from his Ferrari team. The Scuderia have been able to maximise results so far this season and impressive calls from the strategist allowed his team-mate, Charles Leclerc, to climb from P9 to P4 on a one-stop strategy at Suzuka.
