The Heavy Metal Legend Passed Away After a Long Battle with Parkinson’s and Other Health Complications
Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic frontman of Black Sabbath and one of the most influential figures in rock history, died on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, following years of deteriorating health.
Though the official cause of death has n been released, it is widely believed that Ozzy died from complications related to Parkinson’s disease, a condition he was diagnosed with in 2019 and publicly disclosed in 2020. The neurodegenerative illness severely impacted his mobility, coordination, and speech over the last several years of his life. In addition to Parkinson’s, Ozzy also struggled with lingering effects from a spinal injury sustained during a fall in 2019. The injury, which aggravated prior damage from a 2003 ATV accident, led to multiple intensive surgeries and left him largely immobile.
His health issues were compounded by respiratory problems, including a serious bout of pneumonia in 2019 and later complications from emphysema. Despite these challenges, Ozzy remained remarkably resilient and determined to keep his connection with fans alive.
Just weeks before his passing, Ozzy performed his final concert—**“Back to the Beginning”—on July 5, 2025, in his hometown of Birmingham. Seated on a gothic throne due to his condition, he reunited with the original Black Sabbath lineup for an emotional farewell performance that now stands as a powerful closing chapter to his extraordinary life and career.
