Denver Broncos defensive captain Alex Singleton has delivered an encouraging update on his recovery from a torn ACL suffered late last season, reassuring fans and teammates that he is progressing well and eyeing a return to full strength ahead of the 2025 NFL campaign.
The 30-year-old linebacker, known for his relentless motor and leadership on the field, sustained the devastating knee injury in Week 16 against the New England Patriots. The injury cut short what had been another productive season for Singleton, who led the team in tackles and remained a vocal presence in the Broncos locker room.
In his first public appearance since undergoing surgery in January, Singleton spoke with local reporters following a Broncos offseason training session in Englewood. Though he’s not yet cleared for full contact, Singleton said he feels “really good” about where he’s at in the rehab process.
“It’s been tough, of course,” Singleton said, flashing a smile. “But the trainers, the doctors — everyone’s been great. I’m ahead of schedule. Strength is coming back faster than expected, and mentally, I’m all in.”
Singleton emphasized the importance of staying mentally sharp during his recovery, taking time to study film and mentor younger players during OTAs and minicamp. His presence at team facilities has not gone unnoticed, with head coach Sean Payton praising his dedication and work ethic.
“Alex is a guy who sets the tone,” Payton said. “Even off the field, he’s been a huge asset to our younger linebackers and just the culture of this team. We’re looking forward to having him back.”
Singleton is targeting a return during the preseason or early regular season but noted that he and the medical staff are taking a cautious approach to avoid setbacks. The veteran remains optimistic about contributing at a high level once back on the field.
“I’ve got a lot more football left in me,” Singleton said. “This is just a chapter, not the end.”
As the Broncos gear up for a pivotal season in the AFC West, Singleton’s return will be critical for a defense that relies heavily on his leadership and consistency. For now, fans can take solace in knowing that the heart of Denver’s defense is on the mend — and coming back stronger.
