Chase Elliott on his consistent season and staying true to himself: 12 Questions.
As NASCAR’s 2025 season roars past the halfway mark, Chase Elliott has quietly put together one of the most consistent campaigns of his career. With top-10 finishes in nine of the last eleven races, the driver of the No.9 Chevrolet is showing the same poise that won him the 2020 Cup title. We sat down with Elliott to talk about what’s been clicking, how he stays grounded, and what really motivates him behind the wheel.
1. Chase, how would you describe your season so far?
Honestly, it’s been steady. Not flashy, but we’ve executed well. The team’s really come together on strategy and pit stops, and that’s been key.
2. What’s been the biggest difference from previous seasons?
I think just staying patient. I’m not trying to force wins. We’re taking what the car gives us every week.
3. You’ve had a string of consistent finishes. How do you maintain that level?
Discipline. It’s about not overdriving and being smart—especially late in races. That consistency comes from preparation.
4. What does “staying true to yourself” mean for you in NASCAR?
Not letting the highs or lows change who I am. I’m a racer, but I’m also just a guy from Georgia who likes being home, fishing, and keeping things simple.
5. How do you deal with external expectations?
I try to tune them out. Fans and media will always talk, but I focus on what I can control—effort, attitude, and execution.
6. Do you feel like you’re in championship form again?
We’re trending in the right direction. There’s still work to do, but I believe in this team.
7. What motivates you the most right now?
The love of competition. I still love what I do—and the chance to improve every week keeps me hungry.
8. How do you handle off-track pressure or distractions?
By staying grounded. Spending time with family and staying off social media helps a lot.
9. Who’s your biggest supporter?
Definitely my dad. He’s been through all of this, and his advice still means the world.
10. What race are you circling on the calendar?
Watkins Glen. I’ve had some good runs there, and I love road courses.
11. How’s your relationship with your crew chief?
Great. Communication’s been sharp, and that’s made all the difference this year.
12. Finally, what would make this season a success?
A shot at the Final Four. If we can make Phoenix and be in the fight, I’ll call it a win.
