Netflix has officially greenlit a $15.5 million documentary centered on Eldora Speedway, the legendary half-mile dirt track in Rossburg, Ohio, with NASCAR Hall of Famer Tony Stewart and dirt racing icon Scott Bloomquist at the heart of the project. Titled Eldora: Dirt, Dreams & Destiny, the documentary promises to deliver an unfiltered look at the passion, grit, and glory that define grassroots racing in America.
Tony Stewart, who purchased Eldora Speedway in 2004, will serve as both a central figure and executive producer. Stewart’s deep ties to both NASCAR and dirt racing make him the perfect lens through which to explore the evolution of Eldora. “This track has a soul,” Stewart said in a press release. “Eldora is more than a place—it’s a proving ground. I’ve seen careers made and legends born here. This story deserves to be told right.”
Scott Bloomquist, one of the most polarizing and dominant figures in dirt late model racing, is also expected to play a major role. Known for his wild persona, championship pedigree, and complicated legacy, Bloomquist adds a dramatic layer to the documentary. Netflix insiders have hinted at exclusive interviews, never-before-seen race footage, and behind-the-scenes drama that will highlight Bloomquist’s turbulent relationship with the sport and his undeniable influence.
The documentary will trace the history of Eldora from its founding in 1954 by Earl Baltes to its transformation into one of the crown jewels of dirt racing. It will spotlight signature events like the World 100 and the Kings Royal, which have drawn tens of thousands of fans and some of the biggest names in motorsports. Netflix has tapped award-winning director Marshall Curry (The War on Terror, Racing Dreams) to helm the project, with production scheduled to begin in June 2025. The docuseries is expected to span four one-hour episodes, with a global release planned for early 2026.
