DONE DEAL: Alabama Football Legend Derrick Henry Makes Monumental $14.8 Million Donation to the University of Alabama for Stadium Renovation….

In a historic move that cements his legacy both on and off the field, former Alabama Crimson Tide star and NFL running back Derrick Henry has made a record-breaking $14.8 million donation to the University of Alabama. The generous contribution will go toward major renovations of Bryant-Denny Stadium, the iconic home of Alabama football.

University officials announced the gift during a press conference on campus Saturday morning, calling it one of the largest individual donations in the school’s athletic history. The funds will support ongoing renovations aimed at enhancing the fan experience, upgrading player facilities, and preserving the storied tradition of Alabama football.

“Derrick Henry’s impact on the University of Alabama goes far beyond what he accomplished on the field,” said Alabama Athletic Director Greg Byrne. “This gift is a testament to his love for the Crimson Tide family and his dedication to giving back to the community that helped shape his journey. We are deeply grateful.”

Henry, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2015 and led Alabama to a national championship the same year, said the donation is a way of honoring the university that gave him his start.

“Alabama changed my life,” Henry said in a statement. “It’s where I became a man, where I grew as a player, and where I learned what it meant to be part of a brotherhood. I wanted to do something that would give back to the program and the fans who supported me every step of the way.”

The $14.8 million contribution will go toward Phase III of the stadium’s modernization plan, which includes state-of-the-art locker rooms, expanded seating, improved concessions, and digital upgrades aimed at creating a more immersive game-day experience. In recognition of the gift, the university will name the revamped players’ tunnel and entrance the Derrick Henry Legacy Walk.

Henry, currently playing for the Baltimore Ravens after a standout tenure with the Tennessee Titans, has long been involved in philanthropic efforts through his Two All Foundation, which focuses on empowering youth through education and mentorship. This donation further highlights his commitment to uplifting communities connected to his personal journey.

University President Dr. Stuart Bell praised the move as “visionary,” noting that Henry’s influence continues to inspire current and future generations of student-athletes.

“With this gift, Derrick Henry has once again demonstrated the character and leadership that make him a role model on and off the field,” Bell said.

As Alabama fans around the nation react to the news, social media has erupted in praise, with #DerrickHenry trending nationwide. Former teammates, current players, and fans alike have called the move a “full-circle moment” for one of Alabama’s greatest players.

Construction on the stadium enhancements is scheduled to begin later this year, with completion targeted before the 2026 season.

For fans and alumni, Henry’s gift serves not only as a financial boost but as a powerful reminder of the lasting bonds forged under the lights of Bryant-Denny Stadium.
